Jim Land – Shop Owner of Landmark Automotive
I started my first business in 1994 after I was laid off from Continental Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. I saw a need for good and honest people in the automotive industry and started a mobile repair service in the Conifer and Phoenix areas (mostly heavy equipment at that time).
Since 1994, I’ve maintained a strong automotive background. During and after high school, I had a lot of training in both auto and aircraft. My father was a mechanical engineer who also worked on tractors and cars.
I love business, leadership, entrepreneurship and helping people. This, combined with extensive mechanical and an automotive background proved that being an automotive shop owner would be a perfect fit.
I enjoy teaching and learning. Formerly, I was a ASE master certified technician with an emphasis in L1. The certification is now expired because I work mostly on the business now rather than in the business. In addition to our BBB membership, I am well versed in business and attain many auto training certifications.
Our specialty is customer service. We coach and educate drivers on their vehicle needs. We always try to put the customers mind at ease, regardless of the situation. We offer a “no-nonsense” 2 year/24,000-mile warranty on most repairs.
I continuously work to build a network of shops that fulfills customer needs and provides opportunities for technicians. I strive to provide a great place for all our employees to work, but I also support opportunities to those who desire to run their own shop one day.
Lastly, I am very passionate about the automotive industry. I have a strong aspiration to win and succeed and would like to help others do the same. There is a Japanese word, "Kaizen" which means to “change for the better”. I believe this saying is the epitome of the American dream and entrepreneurship. It is my goal to provide honest and quality auto repair.
